Cinnaire’s Hope Park

Community Placemaking Mini Park

On August 1, 2018, REO Town celebrated the opening of a new placemaking project, Hope Park. In commemoration of Cinnaire’s 25th Anniversary, Elements Studio designed this compact park to embody Cinnaire’s goals of creating community growth and hope.

Nestled into the 350 SF park is a curving gravel path that leads to a custom wood bench. The bench provides a perfect view of Butterfly Effect by Andrew Sandstedt, the 1st place sculpture from Old Town’s 2018 Scrapfest. Butterflies, the universal symbol of hope and transformation, aptly capture Cinnaire’s mission.

Grasses surrounding the sculpture will grow over and around the sculpture’s concrete base, creating a natural context for the plant and butterfly forms found in the sculpture. Dotted throughout the compact garden are several Butterfly Weed plants. These plants will attract live butterflies to Hope Park in addition to the sculpture’s metal ones!

The Plant Professionals implemented the landscape plan with great attention to detail. In such a compact space, their accurate installation resulted in a successful placemaking experience.
