Communicating The Vision

The Village of Arlington Heights wanted to be sure that this proposed residential development would complement their community. The municipality expressed concern that the detention basin would become a stagnant pool of water. They also wanted to ensure that the landscape plantings would buffer the proposed homes from the neighboring properties.

By creating a 3D model of the landscape plan with plants sized to show 5 years of growth from the time of planting, we accurately portrayed what the developer was proposing. The detention basin would consist of emergent plantings rather than open water. Evergreen and deciduous tree and shrub buffers along the property lines would create a context so that the homes blend into the landscape.

After seeing the realistic perspective renderings, the municipality granted approval of the landscape plan and development has begun.
